When covid hit last year we suspended picking up trash around the club out of safety concerns for our staff. We have continued to have members bring their trash to the front parking lot where the dumpsters are located. There are a number of reasons why we will continue with this process. We always had trouble with raccoons making a mess of the garbage throughout the campground. Staff was spending too much time cleaning up trash in addition to hauling it away. The plastic garbage liners were not only very expensive but a really bad environmental issue. Our cost for trash removal has doubled this past year and will most likely continue to rise. While it is understandable that members carrying their trash to the dumpster is not as easy as placing it in a garbage can close to their campsite; the benefits of having just the dumpsters out of the way of the general campground far outweigh the inconvenience.
It is also important to mention that members are not supposed to place electrical items, rugs, chairs, appliances, or any other item that is not allowed in our dumpsters. We get fined when this happens and it is the wrong thing to do. Members must dispose of these items on their own. The recycle dumpster also receives items that are not supposed to be in there. There is a sign right on the dumpster stating what can be recycled and what cannot. Thank you for doing the right thing with your trash.
